Billy Kress. If you come back to visit the site, email me at kenny.spittler@yahoo.com. Pickens is still very special to me. We have the family home where we gather for long weekends and let the young ones run wild without fear for their safety. I occasionally come to visit alone and savor the time on the porch, sipping a cup of coffee and watching the occasional car heading to/from Fork Ridge or Hackers Valley. The Maple Syrup Festival began after I had graduated and joined the Marines, but it is one of my favorites times of the year to return to see old friends and marvel at the number of people who come for the festival.

It's been a while sisnce I visited the Pickens area. Both mom Mary Zolar(Turkey Bone) and dad Fletcher Andrews grew up there with their large families. I love that area and now living in Fla. can't wait to get back. As kids(7siblings) we went often and picknicked with the Stuart Smith family (Mary Ellen, Stuart, Mike, Rosemary, Pat et al) Some of the fondest memories of my life. Can't wait to tell the rest of my family about this site, including my mother (age96). Love Ya.

I grew up in Pickens. I still miss it. I moved to Miami, FL when I was 13. I still have family there but don't get to visit as much as I would like. I'm looking forward to retirement. I WILL be spending more time there. Pickens will always be in my heart. I have many many fond memories of the place I still call home.
