How to get to Pickens
If you will be using a GPS system to locate our town, please make sure not to use the route through Holly River State Park unless you are wanting to take a scenic route on a narrow dirt road. It's a very beautiful drive especially in the fall, but if you are wanting paved roads and the quickest route it is not the better choice. The best traveling roads are the ones in the directions below. From Buckhannon Follow Rt. 20 S. 9 miles to the WV Wildlife Center. Turn left on Alexander Helvetia Rd. CR11, proceed 20 miles to Helvetia, turn right on Pickens Rd. (45), proceed 5 miles to Pickens. From Elkins Follow Rt. 219-250 S. 16 miles to Mill Creek, turn right on Adolph Road CR46, proceed 6 miles to Adolph. Turn right across the bridge, proceed 14 miles to Helvetia. At the Hutte Restaurant turn left on Pickens Rd. CR45, proceed 5 miles to Pickens. From Valley Head Follow Rt. 15 W. 6 miles to Monterville, turn right on Pickens Rd. (45), proceed 12 miles to Pickens. This is a gravel base road. From Webster Springs Follow Rt. 20 N. 20 miles to Hacker Valley, turn right on Pickens Rd. (47), proceed 12 miles to Pickens. This is a gravel base road. Please note: Roads from Hacker Valley and Monterville are gravel base roads, and are regularly maintained but are narrow. |
